She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 696

Loyce tilts her head up, her beautiful eyes sparkling. "I remember you have a private jet. It can take off whenever, right?"

"Yeah?" Lucian replies, his thumb gently stroking her hand. A sudden wave of anticipation hits him. "Did you suddenly want to go somewhere?"

"That island you gave me. Didn't you say it has the best view of the stars?"

His large hand pauses. His dark eyes lock onto hers, his heart suddenly accelerating against his ribs. "Right now? It still needs planning and development. It's completely untouched."

"So?" Loyce asks. "Is it cold?"

Lucian chuckles softly. "Of course not. It's tropical. You'd have to wear short sleeves and dresses."

"Can we go, then?" she asks again, adding, "We could use the sky as our blanket, and the earth as our bed."

Lucian's breath hitches.

He looks into her clear, unabashed eyes. There is no teasing, no shyness—just pure desire and a very serious proposition.

She always does this. With the simplest, most direct words, she effortlessly shatters his ironclad composure, sending all the blood rushing south.

A low chuckle rumbles in his chest. His grip on her hand tightens, his thumb tracing the delicate skin of her knuckles with an underlying, primal heat.

"The sky as our blanket, the earth as our bed?" he repeats, his voice dropping an octave, raspier than usual. "I like the sound of that."

His gaze feels physical, trailing over her brows, the slope of her nose, and finally landing heavily on her soft, pink lips.

"A deserted island. A man. A woman. And," he leans in, his breath ghosting over her ear as he murmurs, "the 'bed' you suggested."
