"Loyce, my dear niece, you truly owe me an apology," Edgar pressed on. "Perhaps my wife has wronged you in the past, but I haven't done anything wrong, have I? Are you really going to use your family's influence to bully an honest, middle-aged man who is just trying to provide for his family?"
His acting was incredibly convincing, earning him a wave of sympathy from the crowd. However, aside from Macrostar's shareholders and executives who stepped up to condemn Loyce, no one else dared to speak out against her.
After all, everyone gets sick eventually. It was better to offend a businessman than a doctor—especially one whose skills were so legendary that even the titans of the medical field referred to her as the 'SaintHealer.'
"You're acting in the interest of Macrostar, and so am I," Loyce stated calmly. "I came to this site today and noticed that there are still a lot of leftover porcelain shards scattered around that haven't been cleared away."
Edgar frowned. "That's perfectly normal. Everyone knows there used to be a famous porcelain factory here."
Loyce cut him off. "But centuries-old historical artifacts are mixed in with those shards. They were likely unearthed years ago when the porcelain factory dug up the land for expansion."
She reached into her purse and pulled out a small shard of porcelain. It was the same piece she had pocketed the first time she and Lucian noticed something off about the site.
The moment she revealed the shard, it immediately caught the attention of several high-ranking government officials attending the ceremony.
The Olympic stadium was an issue of national importance. If something went wrong, the fallout would be catastrophic.
"Ms. Lonsdale, are you implying there's an ancient tomb beneath us?" one of the officials stepped forward to ask.
Loyce didn't nod, but she didn't deny it either. "I can't guarantee it, but in all likelihood, yes."
Seeing the government officials—the exact people with the final say over the stadium's location—getting involved, Edgar and his executives felt their stomachs drop.
"Since when were you an archaeology expert, Loyce? You don't even have a certification, yet you dare spout such nonsense? Director Ludlow, please don't listen to her wild claims."
Edgar immediately interjected, lacing his tone with deliberate disdain. "Does she really have to portray herself as an omnipotent genius? What does she gain from lying? Just because she picked up a few pieces of broken pottery off the ground, she dares to claim there are centuries-old artifacts down there and that we can't dig? It's perfectly normal for an old porcelain factory to leave behind old porcelain shards! You're just desperately trying to destroy the legacy your parents left behind! If they knew what you were doing right now, they'd roll over in their graves!"
The Macrostar shareholders and executives standing beside him instantly chimed in:
"Mr. Lonsdale is right! Ms. Lonsdale, attacking him is attacking your own parents! Stop spouting this garbage!"
