A slight, triumphant smile touched Damian’s lips. He took the ring from the box and carefully slid it onto her finger.
“Starting today, no more tears. If you cry, I’ll know I’m to blame.” With those words, he stood, and pulled her tightly into his embrace.
The crowd around them began to close in, wrapping them in layers of congratulatory hugs.
Celeste offered a faint, final smile, stood up, and quietly slipped away from the celebration unnoticed.
Maddox followed her out.
“Go back. Don’t follow me. I won’t cause any trouble. I’m just exhausted and need to go home and get some proper rest.” Celeste had truly let go.
Maddox could sense it.
“Let me drive you home,” he said.
Celeste paused by her car and looked at him. “Mr. Savage…
“It’s on my way,” Maddox replied simply.
Celeste didn’t argue further.
“Keys,” Maddox said, holding out his hand.
Celeste hesitated for a moment before handing them over.
They got into the car without another word.
“If you liked him, why didn’t you make a move sooner? You were right there–you should have gone for it,” Maddox said as he started the engine.
“He doesn’t see me that way. Even if I stripped and lay beside him, he wouldn’t glance in my direction,” Celeste responded quietly, her gaze fixed on the passing night.
She continued, “That day in the hospital, the look in his eyes told me everything. Even if the world fell apart, as long as he was there, his woman would never be bullied. At first, I thought it was absurd—I convinced myself I still had a chance.

“But then I realized… life with the wrong person is just a shadow. No matter how accomplished I am, if his heart isn’t mine, his happiness won’t be either.”
“What’s your take on Isabelle?” Maddox asked.
“Everyone sees things through their own lens. It’s hard to give a simple answer.”

Truthfully, Celeste wanted to say she was formidable, but she wasn’t quite ready to vocalize just how impressive Isabelle truly was in front of someone else.
Maddox didn’t press. After dropping her off, he hailed a cab back to the ranch.
As they approached, he noticed a sleek sedan pulling into the long driveway ahead. It looked familiar.
Sure enough, once it stopped under the entrance lights, he recognized the driver.
Well, wasn’t this a twist.
“Mr. Wilder,” Maddox said, his brow furrowing slightly.
He wasn’t particularly fond of Blaze. As the youngest son of the Wilder family, orphaned young, Maddox suspected Blaze had only agreed to “try things” with Sienna to secure the Savage family’s influential backing.
“Mr. Savage.” Blaze was well aware of his reputation.
“What brings you out here?”
“Just passing through,” Blaze replied with a faint, unreadable smile.
He knew Sienna’s unofficial house arrest had lifted. He’d texted her, received no reply, and found himself blocked on social media.
The lady was evidently displeased that he hadn’t outright refused the marriage alliance and had instead suggested they “give it a try“.
Their social circle was compact, with overlapping connections. A few discreet inquiries had led him here–so he’d followed.
He didn’t dislike Sienna, but he wasn’t head–over–heels either. Yet, here he was.
He found himself actually warming to the idea of marriage.
His fractured childhood had stripped away any naive notions of domestic bliss, but a part of

him longed for someone waiting at home, for a presence to care for.
And Sienna seemed… suitable. She wasn’t going anywhere.

“Passing through? You’ve passed. Time to head back. It’s getting late–things get… unsettled on these roads at night,” Maddox said, shooting him a pointed look.
“Afraid of the dark. Don’t fancy the drive back alone. Might as well come in for a bit,” Blaze said smoothly, already stepping past him into the courtyard.
Maddox was momentarily speechless.
The man had a selective hearing problem. It was endlessly irritating.
“Doesn’t that guy look just like Blaze?” Sienna, who had indulged in several cups of Frank’s potent homemade spirits, was thoroughly buzzed.
Blaze walked into the firelit courtyard and immediately spotted her in the crowd.
Her cheeks were flushed. In one hand, she clutched a rib of roasted lamb; in the other, a stainless–steel cup. She was staring intently as he made his way toward her.
“Can someone check my eyes? Am I that drunk? I swear I’m seeing Blaze,” Sienna mumbled, nudging Isabelle, who was sitting beside her enjoying her own plate.
Isabelle glanced up. “You’re not hallucinating. It’s him.”
By now, most of the gathering knew about Blaze and Sienna–she’d confessed the whole
