“Bruce, I’m the one who brought you here. You can’t even look me in the eye when you lie do I really need to spell it out?”
Bruce stayed silent.
Damian sighed quietly. After all this time, just a few words from Isabelle had won him over. Now he’d become her loyal ally, even keeping secrets from the man who’d raised him.
“Was anything left at the scene?” Damian asked.
“No…” Bruce blurted, then quickly covered his mouth.
Damian chuckled. A little probing was all it took for Bruce to give himself away.
“Still claiming you didn’t do anything wrong?” he murmured with a low laugh, turning the lighter he’d found in her bag over in his hands.
Bruce scratched his head, unsure whose side he was supposed to be on now.
“Mrs. Cross said not to let anyone push you around.”
“Mm, I got that. Go get some rest.”
Damian was just a little surprised Isabelle would dare to act so openly.
“Wait.”
Just as Bruce turned to leave, Damian stopped him. “What else did Mrs. Cross say?”
“Mrs. Cross said if I listen, I get steak. If I don’t, I go hungry,” Bruce replied.
Damian’s brow furrowed slightly. “Anything else?”
Bruce thought for a moment. “Mrs. Cross also said that woman wouldn’t dare call the police.”
Wouldn’t dare call the police?
Did Isabelle get hold of something?
Damian dismissed him with a wave.
Bruce didn’t linger and hurried off.
Frowning, Damian couldn’t quite piece it together, but he didn’t want to interfere with whatever she was doing. He simply arranged for someone to clean up the scene discreetly to avoid any complications.

Ashley stood alone in front of her studio, teeth gritted.
It was already past one in the morning, and the firefighters had just finished their work

Inside and out, the studio was soaked–and so was she.
Just two hours ago, everything had been orderly and intact. Now it was charred beyond recognition, the walls stained black.
The finished garments were ruined, and every sketch, every piece of data she had kept, had gone up in flames.
The financial loss was staggering, not to mention the complete renovation that would be needed later.
Even worse, she now had to compensate for commissioned orders, refund deposits, and overnight she had lost a significant portion of her regular clientele.
She clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms until the skin blanched. Her chest heaved with a rage that felt suffocating. She didn’t even need to think hard–very few people would do something like this. Especially after her confrontation with Isabelle earlier that day, it wasn’t difficult to guess who was behind it.
A cold smile touched her lips.
Isabelle losing her temper wasn’t entirely a bad outcome, but she never expected Isabelle to act so boldly.
She pulled out her phone and accessed the surveillance footage from that night.
In the video, Isabelle didn’t even bother to conceal herself. Instead, she directly opened her phone, much like Ashley had done earlier when she’d shown Isabelle those compromising photos.
Isabelle held her phone up toward the camera, shoving that image right into its lens. Ashley’s face instantly turned ghostly pale, and she nearly dropped her own phone.
Then she watched as Isabelle calmly lit the firestarter.
In Isabelle’s eyes, Ashley saw the same look she herself had once directed at Isabelle.
It was hatred–cold, sharp, and utterly ruthless.
As if she feared nothing at all.
“Ms. Debose, we’ve already notified the police for you. Let us know if there’s anything else you need before we head out,” one of
r the firefighters said as they wrapped up. Seeing it was a young woman alone, they’d taken the initiative to file a report.
This area didn’t seem like the kind of place where a fire would start from faulty wiring, so the captain had called it in.
Ashley froze for a couple of seconds. “No, no! Don’t involve the police!”
She swallowed hard, afraid any odd behavior might raise suspicion. Forcing a smile, she said, “Sorry for the trouble. I can handle this myself. Please cancel the report–no need to waste police resources. It’s the middle of the night; everyone should get some rest. I’ll manage whatever comes up…”
The fire captain noted her composed yet oddly detached demeanor and didn’t press further.
“Alright. Stay safe. We’ve done a full sweep, and the site is secure now. If anything comes up later, you can always call us
“Okay, thank you.” Ashley forced another smile.
