Chapter 365 The Truth Revealed
But it was impossible for Ashley to be connected to that.
“Collin got into a fight with Damian last night,” Isabelle said calmly.

“What?!” Diana reacted as if she’d just heard the juiciest piece of gossip. She leaned in closer, her face alight with curiosity How did that happen? Why did he hit him?”
Isabelle smiled, looking at Diana. Honestly, if it weren’t for Diana, Damian might not have found such a perfect opening to confront Collin.
She recounted the events of the previous night in detail.
Diana let out a long, impressed whistle.
“Your husband really doesn’t hold back!”
She hadn’t expected the story to take that turn.

“Collin probably thought you were being mistreated and decided to play the ‘white knight“,” Diana said with a grin, nudging Isabelle’s arm. “You really have a knack for attracting the decent ones.”
The two shared a light laugh before settling into a comfortable silence, finishing their breakfast.
After a moment, Isabelle spoke up again.
“A few years ago, when we went skiing in Salinas, I crashed into a guy–do you remember?” Isabelle asked, a hint of shy color on her cheeks.
“Of course I remember!” Diana replied, her tone still sparking with the memory. “That guy scooped you right up! Oh my gosh, I swear his arms were this big!” Diana gestured with her hands. “He must’ve had a six–pack, too. What a shame we never tracked him down afterward. Otherwise, I would’ve definitely tried my luck.”
After saying this, Diana paused and glanced at Isabelle, who was smiling with her lips pressed together.
She asked tentatively, “That guy… wasn’t your husband, was it?”
“Yeah, it was him.”
Diana looked utterly stunned.
She really had literally crashed into her soulmate.
After returning to the city, Damian attended a series of meetings and didn’t wrap up until late afternoon.
He checked his phone and saw no new messages from Isabelle. Their chat was still stuck on the brief good–morning exchange from when he’d woken up.
He frowned.

Just as he was about to all her, his phone rang–it was Luca
“Are you still at Laurel Valley?” Lucas asked.
“I’m back in the city,” Damian replied.
“Is your wife still there?”
“Yes, why?”

“Several areas around Laurel Valley have been hit by mudslides. Rescue teams are mobilizing now…”
While still on the call, Damian was already heading for the building’s rooftop helipad.

It had been an exceptionally rainy season. With the ground saturated and runoff from higher elevations, several downstream communities had been affected.
Lucas not only ran a private security firm but also served as a team leader for the county’s volunteer search–and–rescue unit. He’d gotten the alert as soon as it was issued and remembered Damian mentioning he’d been at Laurel Valley with Isabelle the previous afternoon.
Damian took the helicopter–he kept one on standby at the office.
By the time Lucas arrived at the affected area near Laurel Valley, a light, persistent rain had started up again.
The scene was chaotic. The old section of the village looked as if it had been partially washed away overnight, and the fine, steady drizzle fell onto roads already churned to mud.
People were helping each other evacuate, covered in grime, some even barefoot.
Fortunately, it had happened during daylight hours. When the mudslide hit, most tourists in the area managed to get out quickly. No fatalities had been reported yet, though there were multiple injuries.
Many of the residents in this area were elderly, as younger generations had largely moved away. If it weren’t for the recent push to develop the region for tourism, there would hardly be any young people around at all.
When Lucas located Isabelle and the others, he spotted a familiar figure among them.
Lynn was bandaging a wound on Diana’s leg, while Isabelle was trying to support a collapsed wooden beam nearby.
The beam was pinning Diana’s calf, and a deep gash on her thigh was oozing dark, viscous blood.
Kylie had sprained her ankle but was still helping, using her own jacket to shield the wound from the rain.
Lynn was kneeling in the mud, focused on treating the injury.
