“Stop…” Diana tried to protest, but her body felt heavy and weak.

She was wearing a loose hospital dress, and the pants underneath had been roiled up. Beneath the fabric, her legs were wrapped in bandages stained with streaks of blood and smears of dirt.
Her thighs were tightly bound, and her calves were raw from where the beam had pressed into them, with some areas scraped and broken.
Of course it hurt!
Diana had always had sensitive skin–even a light pinch would leave a mark, something Brian knew all too well.
With injuries this severe, the pain must have been intense.
“It’s not like I haven’t seen you before,” Brian said with a soft scoff.
The wounds extended almost to the top of her thighs. If scars formed there, how noticeable would they be?
Diana couldn’t bring herself to meet his gaze.
Brian, of course, understood what was going through her mind.
“What to do… Might be hard to marry you off now,” Brian teased gently, then pulled the blanket back down to cover her legs.
“Then you marry me,” Diana murmured.
Brian’s smile froze. He stayed quiet for a long moment before asking, “What did you say?”
“Nothing.” Seeing his hesitation, Diana turned her face away.
She didn’t have the courage to repeat it, and for some reason, warmth flushed her cheeks.
Brian chuckled, reached out to gently cradle her face, and turned her back toward him.
“I’ll marry you,” Brian said.
This time, Diana didn’t respond.
When medical staff carried a new patient into the tent, Brian was leaning down, kissing Diana deeply.
Everyone pretended not to notice and quietly carried the patient back out, redirecting to another tent instead.
Startled, Diana tugged the blanket up to cover her face.
Brian smiled and patted her head through the fabric.
Later, Diana and Brian boarded a helicopter along with the also–injured Kylie.
Isabelle and Damian would have to wait for the next rotation.
“When you

you flew here, you really meant flew,” Isabelle remarked, watching them board before glancing at the man beside

Chapter 371 Words Unspoken
“If I weren’t here, you’d be stranded here today” Lucas cleaned her shins carefully, the tips of his own mars faintly perik.
“Then just go. I’ll ask someone els-”
“Go where? Ask who?”
Lucas looked up at her, and only then realized how close they were.
Close enough to feel each other’s warm breath distinctly.

The air around them was still damp from the recent rain, so why did it suddenly feel so stifling? Bry and hot, as if they’d been plunged into molten lava, their whole bodies burning, completely out of control.
Lynn had already forgotten what she was going to say. That flawless face so near hers made her heart skip a bear, then begin to race wildly.
Feeling she’d lost her composure, she quickly turned away, trying to calm the restless stirrings inside
Lucas let out a soft, self–deprecating huff, his tongue darting out to wet his dry lower lip, mocking his own pathetic lack of restraint.
Seemed Damian was right after all.
He did feel a twinge of regret.
Lucas took a fresh tissue and methodically wiped her legs from her knees down.
Lynn didn’t dare look at him the entire time. She felt even breathing was a risky endeavor.
“I can do it myself. Couldn’t you just…”
“No.” Lucas‘ tone was firm. “Your parents called. Told me to take good care of you. If you go back like this, tomorrow my legs will hurt worse than yours!”
Lynn felt like crying from his harshness. She knew Lucas was just like that, but she’d genuinely never been spoken to so roughly in her life.
Lucas shot her a glance.
Actually, that wasn’t the whole truth.
Lynn’s phone had broken the day before; it was completely unreachable.
Her parents had called, but they hadn’t dared ask him directly to look after her. After all, their daughter was the one who had ended the engagement. Making such a request to Lucas seemed inappropriate.
They simply couldn’t reach Lynn, so they’d called Lucas instead. They knew he was also part of the relief effort; they just wanted to confirm Lynn was safe.
They also knew Lucas‘ temperament–he wasn’t particularly warm to anyone, and he certainly hadn’t shown any fondness for Lynn. Pressing the matter might make Lucas lose his temper, and then both families would lose face.

She was fired, too and sat on the edge of an empty cot nearby. “Aren’t you tired? Come rest here for a bit
“It’s alright. I’m fine here I’m covered in dirt,” Lynn–said, handing Isabelle a bottle of water and an energy bar from her pack
Thank you.”
Mr. Cross earlier,” Lynn mentioned between sips of water. She wiped her hands and took out her phone, opening a photo to Sabelle.
He paused for a second before taking the phone.
Cross looked… seriously impressive,” Lynn said, then quickly added, “Not in the way you’re thinking–I mean…”
now. He really does,” Isabelle said with a slight smile, and Lynn smiled back.
Damian was standing beside Lucas in the photo, and Isabelle understood Lynn hadn’t taken it just because of Damian
Isabelle didn’t look for long–she didn’t need to. Seeing it only stirred a quiet unease within her.
