The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 116

“Apologize to my daughter!” Sarah’s voice cut straight through the tension.

“Why should I?” Amy crossed her arms and shot back with a smirk. “Everyone has their own taste. Thinking she’s ugly isn’t a crime, is it?”

That word again—ugly. Adelina bit her lip, trying not to look hurt, but Catherine’s name flashed in her mind. If Amy thought she was ugly, then who was pretty? Catherine, of course.

“You can’t just insult people in public like that. Who do you think you are?” Sarah snapped, her patience worn thin.

Sarah had always been close with Belinda. That friendship usually meant people thought twice before crossing her. But Amy’s bluntness hit a nerve, and for a second, Sarah was so angry she couldn’t even find the words to clap back.

Amy just frowned. “I’m not apologizing. If you don’t like it, go ahead and call the police.”

She noticed Belinda walking out of the restaurant and didn’t waste another second. Without looking back, Amy turned and walked away. It was obvious to her that Sarah and Adelina were all talk. Belinda, though—that woman was the real deal. Amy wasn’t about to stick around and see what would happen if she pushed her luck.

Back in her car, Amy pulled out her phone and messaged Catherine. Are you okay?

The reply came quickly. I’m fine, thank you.

Of course. I’m the one who dragged you into this. Honestly, I’ve got issues with Adelina because she stole a bag I wanted back in Solenia.

Amy had always been spoiled. Harrison had given her everything she wanted. But she wasn’t heartless. Insulting someone’s looks for no reason was going way too far.

That bag was supposed to be hers. She’d reserved it in advance, but Adelina had swooped in, paid the sales clerk an extra two hundred bucks, and walked away with it. The clerk, not wanting to get on Amy’s bad side, told her the whole story. Two hundred dollars. Amy had been fuming.

At first, she thought making a fuss over a handbag was beneath her, so she kept quiet. But now, with everything getting out of hand, if she didn’t speak up, it would just look like she was causing drama for no reason.

After sending the message, Amy glanced up and saw Adelina and her mom talking to Belinda, gesturing in her direction. She tossed her phone aside, hit the gas, and sped off without looking back.
