The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 121

Shirley plastered on her most eager smile and practically ran to Adelina’s side.

“Adelina, if you wanted the details about the engagement party, you could’ve just sent Catherine upstairs to report. No need to come all the way down. That’s way too much trouble for you.”

The second Shirley stepped out of the elevator, she was riding high, like she’d just won some epic battle.

Catherine, meanwhile, was silent, looking every bit like someone who’d just lost.

Adelina couldn’t help but feel a rush of satisfaction.

She tried to hide her smile, but it kept tugging at the corners of her mouth as she threw Shirley a glance. “It’s really not a problem.”

Shirley wasted no time, bringing over all the carefully prepared folders. “Lance, Adelina, here’s all the info for the venue options. Please take a look.”

“Lance?” Adelina handed him a file and looked at him for his opinion.

“You decide,” Lance replied, voice cool and steady. His dark eyes drifted over Catherine for just a second.

Adelina picked a spot and sat down, flipping through the brochures and scribbling notes as she narrowed down the list of hotels.

“Adelina, I think Catherine should check out every single banquet hall in person. It’d be best if she went tonight, since we’re tight on time.” Shirley leaned in close, her words dripping with fake sweetness.

Adelina let out a little gasp, acting like she was concerned. “That sounds like a lot. It’s already late…”

“It’s not a big deal. Lance pays her salary. Whatever you say, she has to do.” Shirley shot a look at Catherine that was impossible to miss.

Catherine stayed exactly where she was, not moving an inch.

She could smell the faint scent of cologne from the man beside her, and her eyes landed on the sharp crease of his pants.

Lance moved to the window, lighting a cigarette and taking a slow drag. The smoke curled around him as he looked toward Adelina, his face half hidden in the haze.

Catherine couldn’t read his expression at all. Still, she liked to imagine it was gentle, maybe even a little soft.

“Catherine,” Adelina called, glancing up at her. “Sorry, but I’ll need you to visit all the hotels in person.”
