The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 134

Belinda felt her cheeks burn. Catherine's words stung, leaving her with a wave of shame. How could she possibly lose control of this situation? There was no way she would let Catherine walk all over her.

"You had your chance to cooperate. Now you’re going to regret it. You brought this on yourself, Catherine."

Belinda stood, pulled a photo from her pocket, and tossed it at Catherine. The picture fluttered down and landed right in her lap.

"If you don’t want that orphanage to vanish, you’ll do exactly what we tell you."

Catherine stared at the photo. It was an old group shot from the orphanage. She was maybe fifteen or sixteen back then, her face soft and innocent, but already beautiful. Lorinda and Amanda were on either side of her, with the rest of the kids crowding around them. The orphanage was small, barely known in Cabinda. With Belinda’s resources, making it disappear would be almost too easy.

Catherine clung to the photo like it was a lifeline, even though it felt more like invisible hands were tightening around her throat. Her face stayed blank, but a muscle in her jaw twitched. She couldn’t help it. Helplessness was flooding in, no matter how hard she tried to keep it down.

"What, nothing to say now?" Sarah’s voice cut into the silence. She looked a little more relaxed, now that Catherine had finally stopped talking back. "You spent two years with Lance and didn’t pick up any of the manners or class you were supposed to. All you learned was how to fake it. If someone didn’t know better, they’d think you had some powerful friends backing you up."

Catherine didn’t answer. The pressure was suffocating, but she still bit down on the inside of her lip until she tasted blood. She wasn’t about to beg.

"That’s enough," Belinda said. She threw Catherine a cold look, then turned to Sarah. "You handle the press conference. Do it at the hospital. Make sure she goes and apologizes to Adelina in person."

Sarah’s eyes narrowed as she thought. "And… is she staying at SilverLeaf Industries after this?"

Belinda’s expression tightened, clearly annoyed by the question. "Let’s sort this out first."
