The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 138

Lance had basically swooped in and taken Catherine away from Belinda and Sarah.

If he let her go now, there was no way Belinda and Sarah wouldn’t come after him to settle the score.

“This whole mess wasn’t my fault, but if I leave, everything just goes away.” That had always been Belinda and Sarah’s plan. All they wanted was for Catherine to leave.

“You’re just twisting things.” Lance watched her, seeing all that stubbornness written across her pale, smooth face. There was a chill in the air around him.

Catherine kept her head down, silent, just waiting for his decision.

After what felt like forever, Lance’s intense expression finally relaxed.

“There’s a resignation agreement here. Sign it and you can leave right away. Just know, because of your unique situation, there are a few extra terms.”

He pulled the agreement from the drawer on his right and slid it across the desk to her.

Catherine picked it up, skimming the packed lines of text. “Thank you, Lance.”

There were so many clauses, she couldn’t possibly read them all now. She’d have to take it with her.

“Sign it and give it to HR. Think about it carefully. Once you leave... don’t plan on coming back.”

Lance tossed the pen aside, gathered his files into a briefcase, and stood up.

Catherine followed him out of the office, and they split up at the elevators.

She waited at the regular employee elevator, while Lance walked straight into the executive one. The doors closed. Only then did Catherine glance over.

He actually agreed to let her go.

She hadn’t read the agreement yet, but she knew Lance. He wouldn’t make the terms completely unreasonable.

She watched the elevator go down, feeling a little out of it for a moment.

Suddenly, her phone rang, snapping her back. She answered quickly.
