The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 162

“Of course we’re going in.” Catherine hadn’t expected Gavin to show up alone, either.

She led her team into the private room.

He was slouched in his chair, phone pressed to his ear, sounding half amused, half annoyed. “I’m telling you, I’m popular. Why do you keep arranging blind dates for me? Who keeps spreading rumors that something’s wrong with me? I’m perfectly healthy. You’ll be a grandma sooner or later, just wait. If you don’t believe me, I’ll bring a girlfriend home tomorrow…”

He looked every bit the rebel, one arm draped lazily over the chair, eyes bright with mischief.

When he heard the sound of footsteps, he glanced back, barely interested. “Alright, alright, I have to get back to work now.”

He hung up and swept his gaze over the crowd that had just walked in.

“So that’s why you booked such a big room. You invited the entire squad?”

There was no mistaking it. He’d clearly expected to have lunch with Catherine alone.

Letty and the others hesitated, stuck between wanting to greet Gavin and not wanting to interrupt.

Catherine took the lead, keeping things professional. “Since we’re here to talk business, of course everyone should be involved.”

She chose a seat a few spots away from Gavin.

That was the cue for Letty and the others to chime in.

“Gavin.”

“Hi, Gavin.”

After a round of awkward greetings, everyone sat down, trying to look relaxed but coming off a little stiff.

Gavin just gave a lazy nod, crossing one leg over the other, completely at ease. There were empty seats on either side of him, and a whole row of people across from him.

He patted the chair next to him. “Come sit here. You’re making it look like you’re all here to judge me or something.”

Catherine had no choice but to pick up her bag and move over. She signaled for the rest of her team to do the same.

Before anyone else could get up, Gavin waved them off. “No, it’s fine. Just her.”

Letty, halfway out of her seat, sat back down, looking a little embarrassed.
