The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 475

“Sorry, I’ve got something going on at lunch.”

“About last time, I know I was out of line. Please don’t be mad. I really want to apologize to you in person.”

“You don’t need to be so formal, Adela. It’s fine.”

Catherine finished her message, then switched her phone to silent and set it aside.

“Who was that?” Lorinda had noticed the change in her face. “Don’t tell me something happened again?”

Catherine shook her head. “No, it’s just a message.”

Lorinda could tell she didn’t want to talk about it, so she let it drop and changed the subject. “Okay, so listen to this. I got a new big spender in my livestream fan club. She joined just two days ago and already dropped like a hundred grand in gifts. Honestly, it hurts a little, seeing half of that go straight to the platform.”

She thought about adding the fan directly, just so the money wouldn’t get eaten up by the site.

“A hundred grand? Are you serious?” Suddenly Catherine was way more awake, leaning in. “Maybe she’s got a crush on you. What if she’s trying to hit on you?”

Lorinda laughed. “I thought so too, at first. But get this—it’s a woman!”

Catherine was speechless for a second.

Usually, women didn’t obsess over other women like that, especially not in livestreams where looks were everything.

“Maybe be careful, you know? What if she’s after something?” Catherine’s worry came through.

Lorinda nodded quickly. “That’s what I was thinking. She seems a little off, so I haven’t dared to add her on any socials. She’s left me a bunch of messages, always asking if we can be friends.”

Lorinda already felt something was off. Now that Catherine agreed, there was no way she was adding her.

Catherine paused, thinking. “Want me to watch your stream tonight? I’ll help you keep an eye out.”

Lorinda grinned. “Deal. I’ll point her out to you.”

That night, after dinner, Catherine stayed at Lorinda’s place. Alexa took Jasper upstairs for bed, leaving Catherine in the living room to watch the stream.

She didn’t even need Lorinda to show her—the big spender showed up right away. The account had a flashy floral profile pic, listed as female, and sent the fanciest, most expensive gift in the first few seconds, instantly jumping to the top of the leaderboard.

She stopped, hands deep in her sweater pockets, and gave him a lazy look.

“You’re still awake?”

“Come here, I have something to show you! Wait, I’ll come open the door!”

Gavin pointed at whatever he was holding, then ran inside to head downstairs.

Catherine crossed over to his place, and before she made it to the door, he’d already dashed outside.

“Guess whose invitation this is?”

It was an invitation card. The paper was bright red, decorated with gold patterns, almost blinding.

Catherine glanced at it for a moment, then spoke calmly. “Lance and Adelina’s.”

Gavin whistled. “You really are sharp. My dad sent me my employment contract, and this came with it. Looks like Lance made a point to invite me personally.”
