The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 88

“Is that so? Catherine, you don’t need to hold back. It’s not like Lance is going to meddle in your personal life.”

Catherine could hear the hint in Adelina’s voice. She was clearly trying to use her as an excuse to get Gavin out of the picture too.

But Gavin was never serious about chasing her. Adelina was wasting her time with that plan.

To make things clear, Catherine pulled out a chair and sat down. “I don’t think Lance minds me being here.”

Adelina’s smile faltered, and she looked like she was about to explode.

“After lunch, go back to your room and wait for further instructions,” Lance said quietly, his voice even and cold.

Just a few words, and he’d decided how Catherine would spend her afternoon.

Catherine nodded. “Alright.”

She pulled out her phone, scanned the QR code, and started choosing her food.

Under the table, someone bumped her leg. Her hand jerked in surprise, and she looked up at Gavin without thinking.

“Catherine, sure, Lance and I are enemies at work, but outside of that, we actually get along. So if you were with me, he wouldn’t care,” Gavin said, leaning on the table with a mischievous glint in his eye. “So, what’s your answer? Have you thought about my confession?”

Catherine took a slow breath, forcing herself to smile even though her body was tense. “You’re flattering me, Gavin. I’m just a secretary. You deserve someone way better.”

Gavin clicked his tongue and grinned at Lance. “Did you hear that? She likes me, but she’s just worried about our differences.”

Catherine wanted to melt into the floor. He was pushing her to the edge, just for the fun of watching Lance’s reaction.

But what was Lance supposed to do?

She hesitated, glancing at Lance.

“Solenia’s supposed to have some good eye doctors,” Lance replied, barely reacting.

Gavin just laughed, the insult sliding right off him. “Really? Know any places that fix people who are blind, heartless, and stubborn?”
