The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 223

If Claire had any clue what was running through Carr’s mind right now, she might’ve punched him straight in the face.

Compared to Carr’s obvious nerves, Claire was calm, almost bored. She didn’t even give him a second glance before following Norris inside.

The moment Sean saw Claire, he frowned without even thinking about it. She was just too pretty. How was anyone supposed to concentrate in class with her around?

“You must be Claire?” he asked.

Sean had already decided that any pretty girl had to be all looks and no brains. So of course, he underestimated her right from the start.

Claire met his stare, cool and unbothered. “Hello, sir,” she said, her tone flat, almost indifferent.

Maybe she was a little too calm, because Sean felt instantly rubbed the wrong way. He could sense she didn’t take him seriously as a teacher at all. Kids like her, he thought, even if they made it to college, what was the point? They had no idea how to respect their teachers. All that education, totally wasted.

“Why are you wearing makeup at a training camp?” Sean shot at her. “And your hair, can’t you just tie it back properly? Dressed like this, do you think the boys are going to pay attention to the lesson, or just stare at you?”

Claire blinked, caught off guard. The other teachers looked just as stunned. Nobody could believe Sean had actually said that out loud. Was this guy really a teacher? Did he even hear himself?

Adolph rolled his eyes so hard it was almost comical. Even Sammie looked annoyed. How did Sean ever get chosen as a supervisor?

Claire didn’t miss a beat. “It’s funny, sir. You jump to conclusions without even knowing the facts. That’s pretty similar to Carr.” She gave him a cool look. “You two really are a perfect match.”

Sean’s face was turning red and pale in turns. What did she mean, he was insulting the boys? Why didn’t she say he was insulting her?

“If you’re really worried that Carr can’t focus, maybe you should tutor him privately,” Claire added, refusing to let Sean off easy. Why was this teacher picking fights with students on day one?

Carr felt like he’d been run over by a truck. He’d only wanted Sean to help him out, smooth things over with the other teachers. Instead, Sean was making everything worse. Now everyone seemed even more annoyed with Carr than before. If he’d done anything more serious, they probably would’ve kicked him out already.

He regretted ever running his mouth to Sean in the first place.

Sean tried to defend himself. “I don’t know how good Claire is, but Carr is the top student on Veridian’s whole competition team. I’ll admit, I might have a bit of a bias against pretty girls like you, but I don’t mean anything by it. I just want you all to focus on your studies, not your looks.”
