The Billionaire's True Heiress: From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 259

Tiffany shot her daughter a glare. “What did I say wrong? I’m just worried about Melissa.”

“If you’re so worried, do you really have to sound so smug about it?” Yolande didn’t bother sugarcoating her words.

Ophelia almost burst out laughing at how direct Yolande was. She’d always known that Tiffany was jealous of Melissa. But since Tiffany’s family depended on them for everything, Ophelia had never worried she’d actually hurt Melissa. Still, seeing Tiffany act this way toward Melissa’s daughter was another story, and it didn’t sit right with her.

“Yolande’s right,” Ophelia said, her voice calm but pointed. “Tiffany, are you really hoping Melissa spends the rest of her life farming in the countryside?”

She’d planned to give Tiffany some grace for Yolande’s sake, but it turned out some people just liked being called out in front of everyone.

Tiffany looked embarrassed for a moment. “Of course not. I just think Melissa must really love Claire’s dad, if she’s willing to stay out in the country with him instead of coming back to Cabinda. You all have been so good to her, but she ditched her own family for a man. I just don’t get it. Melissa’s so ungrateful.”

Ophelia glanced at her coolly. “Melissa has her reasons. As her family, it’s our job to support her decisions, not judge them.”

Claire felt a wave of relief and satisfaction. She didn’t even have to say a word, and Ophelia was already standing up for her.

She looked at Tiffany with an innocent smile. “Tiffany, maybe you should go to the countryside and try out farm life for yourself.”

Claire didn’t bother denying anything about her parents farming. It was clear Tiffany was just fishing for trouble, and she wasn’t about to make things more complicated.
