Cindy thought about it for a moment, realizing the scenery along the way would be amazing. Honestly, a road trip just sounded so much better than hopping on a plane.

“So, should I start planning out some places to visit?”

“Yeah, go ahead. Check out a few spots you might want to see when we get there,” Lance said, looking totally on board.

Cindy called York after that. As soon as she hung up, York called Lance right away.

“What’s the deal? I thought you were going to check out a project. Bringing Cindy for the ride is one thing, but driving? That’s such a waste of time.”

York thought he had Lance completely figured out. He acted like he was doing Lance a favor too.

Lance didn’t bother correcting him, deciding to go along with it. “Yeah, it’s a business trip, but I want Cindy to have a good time too.”

“We’re always so busy at work, we never have time to take her anywhere. She’s probably never even been outside of Apex.”

“Claire got to travel abroad all the time. Cindy needs some real-life experience and a chance to see more of the world. A chill road trip is so much better than just flying there.”

Lance made perfect sense, and York couldn’t really argue with that logic. Even so, York had tons of stuff waiting for him back at the office.

“I don’t know how many days I’ll be able to stay,” he admitted.

Flying out for a short trip was totally manageable, but a road trip was a whole other level. Plus, driving was exhausting.

Of course, Lance wasn’t planning on driving himself. He’d already hired an experienced driver who knew that stretch of road inside and out.

The driver could show them around and help them catch up with Claire’s group, so everything would work out perfectly.

“Just start packing. Stay with her as long as you can.”

“If you need to, you can always work remotely,” Lance said, urging York along.

Left with no better option, York packed in a rush and headed out with Lance.

Cindy, being a girl, had a little more to organize. But Lance had already told her that if she forgot anything, they could just pick it up on the road. She wasn’t supposed to worry about money, just focus on having fun and doing something spontaneous for once.

She was actually relieved she didn’t have to run back home for more stuff, so she agreed right away.

As soon as Cindy finished packing and got downstairs, she ran into Octavia, who was just arriving at the apartment looking for her.
