Just as she was lost in thought, Sean’s voice came from above her. “Her grandfather was kind to my grandfather, but Julie and I have no engagement. The rumors started after my grandfather passed away. That year, the White family, due to a project crisis, leaked the story about marrying into the Johnson family. Out of respect for my grandfather, we didn’t publicly deny it. Because they got a taste of that success, they dared to be so arrogant this time, but I won’t indulge them anymore.”
Most importantly, Julie had the audacity to provoke Tracy in front of him. That was what he could not tolerate.
How could he allow the girl he was carefully looking after to be bullied by others?
If he didn’t fight back. those people wouldn’t know their place. They truly believed they could make decisions for the Johnson family.
Wielding a feather as a warrant—utterly delusional.
Tracy listened quietly. For some reason, she felt that the man in front of her was not as cold and ruthless as he appeared.
At least concerning this matter, he seemed quite loyal, otherwise, with his capability, he wouldn’t have allowed the White family to exploit the situation for so long.
But, she realized, this was the first time she had ever heard him speak so much, and it was to explain his relationship with Julie to her.
“Sean, actually…” Tracy began cautiously. “You don’t need to tell me all this. I don’t care about it.”
Whether Sean had a relationship with Julie or not, it had nothing to do with her. After all, they were just senior and junior alumni.
Over-explaining could easily lead to misunderstandings.
Sean stared at Tracy for a long moment. Seeing that she was genuinely indifferent, he sighed silently.
“It’s late. You should go back and get some rest. Remember to be at Harmony Hospital for your follow-up appointment at nine tomorrow.
Tracy nodded. “Okay, thank you for the reminder, Sean.”
She turned and quickly left the garage. To avoid running into Julie, she chose to take the stairs this time.

Watching her retreating figure, Sean fell into thought.
It wasn’t until she disappeared from view that he got into his car and called Gary.

Gary had just finished work. As he drove out of the company, he saw Sean’s incoming call and felt his heart sink.
Every time Sean called him, he ended up having to go back to work for a while.
It was almost eleven now. He sighed, pulled the car over to the side of the road, and rubbed his tired forehead before answering quickly. “Mr Sean, it’s late. Do you have any further instructions?”
Sean leaned back in the rear seat, his eyes closed in weariness. After a moment of silence, he finally voiced the question on his mind.
“Gary, how does one pursue a girl? How do you make her truly accept a person from her heart?”
Gary felt his breathing stop for half a second. He pulled the phone away to confirm that it was indeed Mr. Sean calling.
He never expected Mr. Sean to ask him such a question.
Is Mr. Sean finally dating?
After a few seconds of thought, Gary replied carefully, “I hear girls like a sense of ritual, and they like sharing things. For example, sharing what you do every day.”
“As for ritual, that means sending flowers or jewelry on holidays or birthdays.”
Sean listened to Gary’s advice, making a mental note of each point.
Then he casually asked, “Since you know so much about girls, have you successfully pursued the girl you like?”
Gary: “..”
Okay, the boss is rubbing salt in the wound. He knows I’ve been focused on work for the past few years, with no time to date!
The boss was clearly asking this deliberately. That’s too much.
“Mr. Sean, it’s very late. If you don’t have anything else, you should get some rest. I’ve just left the office, so I’ll drive home now. See you tomorrow.”
After hanging up, Sean opened the car door and stepped out, his mood instantly lifting. He

felt much better.
The next day, Tracy woke up at 7:30 AM and immediately saw a message from Sean.

“Remember not to eat breakfast today, or the examination will make your stomach uncomfortable. Go ahead without me: I will arrive at the hospital before nine.”
Reading the message, Tracy felt a warm sensation in her heart. It feels good to be thought of.
But the next second, she cautioned herself: I cant rely on anyone too much, or the consequences will be even worse than before.
If I went through that kind of emotional experience again, the half of my life I have left would be consumed by love.
So she had to remind herself to remain clear-headed and never be a love-struck fool or a lackey again.
Tracy arrived at the hospital at 8:30 AM and headed straight to Professor Cheng’s floor.
As the elevator doors opened, Tracy was surprised to see Quincy, who was helping a middle- aged woman wait for the elevator.
Recognizing the middle-aged woman, Tracy realized she was Quincy’s mother.
This floor housed the Oncology Department. Quincy’s mother must also have cancer.
Ha, karma truly is a bitch.
