The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 410

For a moment, I just wanted him back. Pain and all. Grief and all.

I wanted him.

But then I realized what was happening. This was wrong, and the fact that it felt good in the moment couldn’t change that. I couldn’t fall back into this old routine. I couldn’t let him manipulate me with the pleasant sensations of a bond that had never fully gone away.

Furthermore, as far as Gideon knew, I was a married woman.

I pressed my hands into his chest just as I heard the faint clink of his belt buckle. Then, I shoved him hard.

Gideon stumbled back a step, breathless, staring at me.

His hair was a mess and his shirt was hanging open with half the buttons ripped off.

“You need to go,” I said, pushing away from the table, tucking my breast back into my bra, and turning away.” Now.”

He didn’t move immediately.

“Avery,” he said. His voice was low and husky, and the way he said my name made my chest clench painfully with the effort of holding back my wolf. “You’re the one who kissed me. You want me.””I kissed you because of the poison.” I reached down and picked up my shirt from the floor. “That’s it. That’s the only reason any of that happened, and you knew I was impaired and you let it go that far anyway, so you had better hope that Sebastian doesn’t come looking for you in the next ten minutes.”

Gideon was silent. I pulled my shirt on over my head and turned to find him looking at me, chest heaving, lips parted.

His expression hardened at the same time mine did.
