The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 414

"But you were jealous last night, weren't you?" Vivica pointed out directly.

"If I said I wasn't, would you believe me?" he countered.

Vivica remained silent.

Joseph continued, "I wasn't jealous, because I'm confident enough to know that as long as our marriage is intact, you won't fall for another man."

Vivica was taken aback. He was so self-assured it bordered on arrogance.

"But just because I wasn't jealous doesn't mean I enjoy seeing my wife alone with another man—especially a man who clearly has feelings for her."

That was why his expression had soured when he saw Zavier last night. Still, he had maintained proper social etiquette. He wasn't the type to wear his emotions on his sleeve or lose his composure so easily.

Vivica quietly mulled over his words. In short, he was a very possessive man. His confidence kept him from being jealous, but his possessiveness made him care.

"The reason I asked if you'd consider changing jobs was simply because I think your line of work is exhausting. With your skills, you could easily learn and adapt to another industry."

Joseph was completely caught off guard by her sudden confession. They had tested the waters with each other so many times, but whenever they got close to breaking through the final barrier, she had always retreated. Today, however, she had given him no warning at all.

He stared at her for a long moment before finally asking, "What did I do to make you fall in love with me?"

Vivica's heart raced, and a warmth spread across her face. She knew that once she admitted her feelings, there was no turning back. If they didn't grow old together, another breakup would be an excruciating, soul-crushing pain. But she still wanted to confess. This man had given her so much—more than her heart could hold—and she had to show him how she felt.

"Actually, I fell in love with you a while ago," she admitted with complete sincerity. "I just couldn't get over the mental hurdle. I felt like it was too soon after my divorce to fall for someone else, so I kept denying it."
