The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 417

"It's easy, I'll teach you later," the little boy said, his tone mimicking an adult's, his voice still soft and young but full of confident maturity.

Melanie smiled warmly when she saw her son and daughter-in-law arrive so early. "It's the weekend. Why didn't you sleep in a little?"

“I’m just used to getting up early,” Vivica said, moving behind Melanie and gently massaging her shoulders.

Joseph watched the scene, his usually cool expression softening considerably.

"Go keep Chaim company so Dad can take a break," Vivica instructed, tilting her chin at him.

Melanie immediately grumbled, "See? Sons are just useless. They're so thoughtless and never think about their parents."

Joseph scoffed. "Now she's the one who acts like your biological child. Everything she does is perfect, and my mere presence seems to annoy you."

With that, Joseph walked over to the hospital bed. "Chaim, I'll play with you, but no crying if you lose."

Sheridan stood up to make room, then smacked his son on the back of the head. "You dare make my grandson cry, and I'll throw you out of here!"

Joseph frowned at his father. "Don't be so violent in front of the child. You'll set a bad example."

Sheridan's face hardened as he raised his hand again, though it was just for show.

Chaim giggled, cleverly remarking, "Grandpa is just playing with Dad."

"Hah, you're a smart one. You get that from me," Joseph blurted out.

Sheridan snorted. “What does it have to do with you? He takes after Vivica—or Lennon.”

Joseph didn't respond, pretending not to hear as he started a new game of checkers with the boy.

"Don't do it."

"Why not? Don't you want to know if I'm pregnant?"

Joseph said, "If you're pregnant, you're pregnant. If you're not, getting a blood test won't make you pregnant. Why put yourself through that?"

"That's true."

"Wait until you miss your period, then we'll check. For now, just stay calm and don't rush things."

In matters like this, the man was clearly more level-headed. Calming down, Vivica had to admit he had a point. Some things in life were strange that way; the more you fixated on them, the less likely they were to happen. A calm, patient approach often yielded better results.

"So what should I say if Melanie asks about it?" Vivica's main concern was not wanting to go against her mother-in-law's wishes or let her down.
