The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 430

Of course, she had also been praising Joseph from the bottom of her heart.

After a moment of silence, Fletcher looked at her, his voice low and dejected. “So, you’ve fallen in love with Joseph.”

“Yes, I have. If you were in my shoes, you would fall for him too, probably even more than I have.”

With that, Vivica turned and continued toward the elevators. Fletcher stood frozen for a moment before following.

While they waited, Vivica glanced at him. “Are you still willing to do the compatibility test?”

She thought that after her harsh words, which had surely wounded his masculine pride, he might refuse out of anger.

To her surprise, Fletcher nodded and said quietly, “I’m already here. I might as well. Who knows…”

Maybe he’d get lucky and be a match. At least then, he could make up for some of the harm he had caused Chaim.

The elevator descended in silence. Vivica was surprised by his willingness. It seemed he had changed a little, but it no longer concerned her.

As for Fletcher, he had more he wanted to say, but now the words were stuck in his throat. He had recently undergone a procedure and was fully recovered. He had planned to come back, apologize to Vivica, and tell her that he was better now, begging for another chance. He would have promised to cherish her and make things right. But now, he knew it was hopeless. She was already in love with Joseph, and Joseph treated her so well… No woman in her right mind would leave that to get back with an ex-husband.

So, Fletcher swallowed his words, his heart filled with bitter regret, and let the thought go for good.

Vivica took Fletcher to see Dr. Warren. After the tests were done, she walked him out of the hospital as a courtesy. Whatever his past failings, he had shown a glimmer of conscience by being willing to help save Chaim. And since she had made her feelings perfectly clear—that she was now in love with Joseph—she was confident Fletcher wouldn't misinterpret her politeness as a sign of lingering affection.

Fletcher didn’t say a word, simply got in his car and drove away.

Vivica told the bodyguards to go upstairs and take a break, then drove back to her office. She had just left the hospital when her phone rang. It was Joseph.

“Hello? Did you plant a spy on me?” Vivica teased, finding the timing too perfect. She suspected the bodyguards had immediately reported to him.

Joseph chuckled, unabashed. “The bodyguards have to report in.”

“I knew it,” Vivica replied with a smile, her tone playfully affectionate. “I figured you’d call to ask, so I didn’t rush to call you.” She was beginning to understand him quite well.

“It seems we’re starting to get in sync.”

Joseph let out a soft laugh. “If you don’t want it, then don’t take it. Forgive and forget where you can. I understand. If you push him to the brink, he might do something desperate, which would only cause more trouble for us.”

Fletcher was already deep in debt. The sale of his company might not even be enough to cover everything he owed. If Vivica took half, he’d be hounded by creditors for the rest of his life.

“I was worried you’d think I was being too soft,” Vivica said, a little surprised.

Joseph comforted her with a laugh. “Not at all. He’s already faced the consequences of his actions. There’s no need to kick him while he’s down.”

Thinking about it, Fletcher had indeed been punished severely. He lost his wife and his wealth in the divorce, his father had died from the stress, he was abandoned by his so-called true love, and now his career and business were gone, leaving him with a mountain of debt. Fate had already dealt him a harsh hand; there was no need for them to add to his misery.

His words lifted a weight from Vivica’s shoulders. “I’m glad you support me. Thank you.”

“What’s there to thank me for? We’re husband and wife.”

Vivica smiled, missing him more with every passing second as she drove.
