The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 445

Joseph and Vivica remained calm, thinking his advice was obvious, almost pointless. But the next tip made both their faces flush crimson.

“Second, you need to be regular, but not too frequent. A lot of people get this wrong and think that the more you do it, the higher the chances. That’s completely false. If you’re too frequent, the little guys don’t have time to mature, which naturally lowers the probability of conception.”

As Harvey explained, Vivica, blushing furiously, shot a meaningful glance at her equally red-faced husband.

Joseph pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

Harvey saw right through them and chuckled. “I know you’re newlyweds and passion can be hard to control, so you’ve probably been overdoing it. But you’ll have to be more mindful from now on.”

“We know. We’ll be more careful,” Joseph muttered, his usual confidence gone. His eyes darted around the room, unable to meet his friend’s gaze.

“I’d bet that’s the main reason it didn’t happen this month. My fault, really. I forgot you’re new to this and should have given you a heads-up earlier,” Harvey teased with a grin.

Joseph shot him a death glare. Harvey shrugged in protest. “Hey, I’m giving you a serious consultation here. What’s with the look that could kill?”

“Just get on with it,” Joseph grumbled. “What else?”

“Plenty. For example—after you’re finished, the woman shouldn’t get up right away. She should lie flat on her back, prop her hips up with a pillow, and rest her legs against the headboard, kind of like a partial handstand. Hold that for three to five minutes.”

That piece of advice sent the heat, which had just started to subside from Vivica’s cheeks, roaring back. She was so embarrassed she wanted to dive under the covers and disappear. She thought about the times they’d been together in the bathroom—there was definitely no lying flat then. It had been pure, chaotic passion.

Chaim had been at Riverdale Children’s Hospital for days without seeing his father and a couple of days without his mother, and he was starting to get fussy. Joseph was indeed in a hurry to finalize the transfer and get to his sick son’s side.

“Fine, fine. You guys have it rough, practically living in hospitals these days,” Harvey said, his teasing tone gone. “I’ve got things to do anyway, so I’m out. But if you have any more questions about baby-making, feel free to harass me anytime.”

With a wicked smile and a jaunty wave, Harvey was gone.

Mortified, Vivica waited until the door was closed before turning to Joseph, pouting. “This is all your fault. You’re always in such a hurry. Haste makes waste, you know.”

Joseph looked guilty, a suspicious blush creeping up his handsome face again as he scratched his nose. He had no comeback. As a newlywed finally exploring the joys of marriage, he had, admittedly, been a little out of control. Who knew getting pregnant involved so many rules?
