Sullivan stepped forward, gently holding Sean’s arm to prevent Joseph from applying more pressure. He then turned to Joseph with a cunning, polite smile, trying to de-escalate the situation. “Of course there’s proof!” Raymond interjected, stepping forward with the DNA test results. “This is a report from an authoritative lab. Vivica is Hayes's long-lost biological daughter!”
Sullivan’s eyes fixed on the report as he took it and began to read. Sean craned his neck to see, his voice laced with anxiety. “Sullivan… what does it say? Is she really Hayes’s daughter? If she is, then the company—”
“Shut up!” Sullivan snapped, cutting him off with a fierce glare. He regretted bringing his brother along. The man was a complete liability, a total idiot! Why couldn't he wait until they were back home to speak his mind? Did he have to broadcast all his despicable thoughts in front of Vivica and Joseph?
Sean flinched at the rebuke and, seeing the contempt in Sullivan's eyes, finally realized he should keep his mouth shut.
After reading the report, Sullivan’s last sliver of hope vanished. He never would have dreamed that the niece who had been missing for over twenty years would suddenly reappear. “Ms. Lynn…” He looked at Vivica, forcing a smile. “This report—”
He still had his doubts, worried it might be a forgery, but before he could voice them, Raymond cut him off angrily. “What, you think the report is fake?”
Sullivan managed a thin smile. “These days, anything can be faked.”
Raymond clenched his fists, fighting to control his temper. “Are you blind? Vivica looks exactly like my aunt Hillary did when she was young. Have you forgotten what she looked like? Do you need me to find a photo to jog your memory?”
