The fact that Hayes's biological daughter had reappeared definitely required a new strategy. Sullivan nodded grimly. "You're right. We'll head back and figure this out."
Vivica knew they wouldn't give up so easily. Hearing them talk about regrouping, she stated bluntly, "There's nothing to re-strategize. I've already made myself clear: you will not touch my parents' shares."
Her cold, decisive gaze swept over the two brothers. "Not only are those shares off-limits, but I will also claw back every last cent you swindled from them over the years."
"Vivica, that's going too far!" Sullivan shot back, his indignation returning. "If it weren't for us managing the company all these years, it would have gone bankrupt long ago! On what grounds do you demand everything back?"
Vivica smiled. Spending so much time with Joseph, she had picked up his knack for a chilling smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. It was a look that was both casual and deeply unsettling. "On the grounds that my parents founded that company," she said coolly. "While you two did nothing but reap the benefits, resent them, and push them aside. In fact, the only reason I was given away was because of your interference, which prevented them from finding me in time."
As she spoke of the past, a familiar heaviness settled in her heart. She couldn't tell if the feeling was resentment toward her parents, her grandparents, or these two uncles. But one thing was certain: she was determined to move past her own history and get justice for her parents.
"You... you're wrongly accusing us," Sullivan stammered, rushing to defend himself. "We knew nothing about it when your grandparents sent you away. And when your parents were searching for you everywhere, we helped them look..."
Vivica didn't believe a word of it. Although she didn't know the full story yet, her intuition told her these two uncles were complicit, at least by gloating in private.
