Of course, he couldn't bring up the cord blood in front of Vivica just yet.
After the ultrasound was finished and Vivica sat up, Joseph practically hovered over her, his attentiveness turned up to eleven.
He had work lined up for the morning, but his mind was completely checked out now.
While they waited in Harvey's office for the blood test results, Joseph pulled out his phone and called Roderic, delegating all his tasks so he wouldn't have to go in.
Overhearing the call, Vivica didn't agree with his decision. "I'm perfectly fine. Why are you canceling your work? Go to the office if you need to, I can take care of myself."
"No need. I'm staying right here with you. I've reassigned everything, they just need to follow my instructions."
The two of them sat close, practically radiating affection, lost in their own little world.
Harvey desperately wanted to look away, but they were sitting right in front of him. There was no escape.
Suddenly, Vivica's phone rang.
She checked the screen and her face lit up. "It's Quintina! I messaged her on WhatsApp when I got here, but she didn't reply. She must have just finished her shift."
She answered the call immediately. "Hey, Quintina."
Quintina had just walked out of the delivery room and called her best friend the second she saw the message. "Vivica, are you at the hospital?"
"Yeah, I'm at Harvey's office. Don't worry if you're busy, we can catch up later."
Knowing how demanding Quintina's job was, Vivica held back the news about the twins, afraid her friend would drop everything and abandon her duties—just like a certain someone sitting next to her.
