He had barely reached the doorway when he heard the sound of retching coming from the bathroom.
Frowning deeply, he rushed in.
"Throwing up again?" He stepped up behind her, using one hand to gather her hair out of the way while his other hand gently rubbed her back.
When she finally finished, her face was flushed and she was completely drained of energy.
Thankfully, Joseph was right there to catch her as she leaned back into his chest.
"How do you feel? We should go to the hospital today. The sickness is getting worse," he said softly, looking down at her with pure heartache.
"No need," Vivica replied weakly. "It's just part of pregnancy. It'll get better after the first trimester."
Joseph's frown deepened.
"You can go now. I need to use the toilet."
He didn't budge.
She gave him a weak push. "I need to go, please step out."
Reluctantly, he let go, letting out a heavy sigh before turning to leave.
But the moment he heard the toilet flush, he pushed the door back open.
Vivica shot him a look but didn't say anything as she started brushing her teeth and washing her face.
Joseph stood by her side like a loyal guard on standby.
"Are you in a better mood today?" he asked cautiously.
Mid-face wash, she threw back a single word: "No."
He pressed his lips together, remaining silent.
Once she finished, he immediately reached out to support her arm. "Let's go downstairs and eat. Your stomach is completely empty."
