The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 236

Petty picked at her meal, barely making it halfway. After swallowing, she fixed her eyes on Franco.

He spoke in a quiet, almost detached voice. “He’s still alive.”

Petty’s heart skipped a beat. She barely stopped herself from losing her temper, but she knew there was no point pushing Franco any further. Without a word, she took out her phone and tried Hans’s number again.

No answer. Same as before.

Frustrated, Petty got up and walked out.

Franco stayed where he was, watching silently as she left. He set his chopsticks down, his face unreadable.

Susan glanced at the untouched dishes and the two empty seats. It almost felt like Mr. White had really wanted to share lunch with Mrs. White for once, but things between them were a mess.

Petty was trapped in Misty Vale with no news of Hans. She called again and again, but no one ever picked up.

She tried Aaron next. He was recovering and nowhere near Hans, but he’d heard that The Green Family was in chaos. Everything else was just rumors, nothing more.

Even as evening fell, there was still nothing. No calls. No messages.

Finally, Petty couldn’t take it anymore. She stormed to Franco’s study, but he wasn’t there. Peering out a second-floor window, she caught sight of him in the courtyard with Laura.

Laura? What was she doing here?

Night crept in and the courtyard lights flickered on. The two of them spoke in the shadows beneath a tree, too far for Petty to hear. She only caught Franco’s cool, indifferent response.

“You decide.”

Laura smiled.

Her aide pushed her wheelchair while Franco walked beside them. It looked like they were about to leave.

All Petty could think about was Hans. She leaned out the window, voice sharp in the evening air. “Franco!”

He stopped instantly.
