The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 279

Parrish’s eyes drifted to the emblems on the men’s jackets. Every one of them was Franco’s personal guard.

These weren’t just any bodyguards. They’d been chosen and trained with obsessive care by Franco’s mother’s family. Their skills were on a whole other level.

Parrish hadn’t expected Franco to post his best men here.

“Parrish, do we move now?” his assistant whispered, waiting for the order.

He didn’t answer right away, just listened to the distant rumble of engines getting closer. Eventually, he pulled his attention back, his voice calm and unhurried. “Franco’s here.”

His assistant blinked in surprise, glanced over his shoulder, and saw a line of black sedans approaching.

The cars parked behind theirs. The doors swung open, and Franco stepped out, dressed completely in black. His eyes, sharp and chilly, swept over the barricade of vehicles with the kind of cold indifference that gave nothing away.

Inside their car, Parrish’s assistant could feel the pressure the moment Franco appeared. This was someone born to lead, with an authority that clung to him.

Parrish opened his door and got out. He faced Franco now, the man standing tall and unflinching, his presence only stronger than before. “Franco, it’s been a long time.”

Their families went back years. When Franco’s grandfather was alive, he and Parrish had sometimes played together as kids. But truthfully, that was as close as they’d ever gotten. Franco was never the warm type and didn’t like letting people in. As adults, only Galen and Harris had ever really earned his trust.

“Yes, it has,” Franco replied, his tone cool. “Why are you here so late at night?”

Parrish looked right at him, not the least bit flustered. “Laura hired someone to kill Hans. As his brother, of course I’m here to help him get justice.”

“So you think you can take her from me?” Franco gave a short laugh. Under those streetlights, the lines of his face seemed even sharper, more intense.
