The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 297

She turned and pressed the call button by her bed.

A few moments later, a nurse knocked and came in. "Laura, do you need something?"

Laura glanced at the partially open door. "I want to change clothes but I can’t reach them. Can you close the door and hand them to me?"

The nurse nodded right away. "Sure thing."

She headed to the door, about to close it, when the bodyguard at the entrance shot her a look. The nurse quickly added, "Laura just wants to change her clothes."

The bodyguard didn’t say a word. The door closed softly behind her.

The nurse grabbed the neatly folded hospital gown from the sofa. "Laura, do you want help changing?" she offered, pulling the curtain around the bed.

Laura gave her a gentle smile. "Yes, please. Thank you."

The bodyguard waited outside for about five minutes. Eventually, the door swung open and the nurse came out. Through the little window in the door, they could see Laura lying in bed, already asleep.

...

A few days ago, Petty had terrible cramps. Hans insisted she take time off, refusing to let her work until her period ended and she looked healthy again.

Just before she left for work, Hans was half-reclining on the sofa, still recovering from his injuries. "If you can handle work, go in. If you can’t, just call in sick. Hear me?"

Hans had no idea she’d already resigned, and wasn’t actually working anymore. Taking days off was easy now. In about ten days, she’d be officially done.

"Alright, I get it," Petty called out as she pulled on her shoes. "You should look after yourself too. Didn’t Parrish tell you to go home and rest? Why are you crammed in this tiny place with me?"

Hans looked her over and frowned. The sweater she picked out had a low neckline. He pressed his lips together. "It’s chilly. Aren’t you a little underdressed?"

"It’s nearly twenty degrees out. What cold?"

Just as she reached the door, Hans called, "Wait, come back!"

Petty rolled her eyes, thinking he must be uncomfortable. His assistant was in the room, but she walked back anyway. "What now?"

She stopped in front of him.
