The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 306

Galen watched as Franco casually tossed the strip of fake scar tissue into the trash. For some reason, it just made his blood boil all over again.

Whatever. As long as someone believes me, that’s enough.

Looking at Franco, so calm and collected like nothing could touch him, only made Galen more irritated.

“Yeah, sure, someone believes you. Laura couldn’t get ahold of you, so she called me instead. She said there’s no way you’d ever do something like that. Wow, must feel good to have someone blindly trust you, huh?”

Galen couldn’t help but lay it on thick, sarcasm dripping from his words.

“That’s got nothing to do with me.” Franco didn’t bother to look his way. He got up and turned on the faucet, splashing cold water over his face. Droplets ran down his sharp jawline and hit the sink below.

A memory flashed through Franco’s mind. She was sitting in the passenger seat with a cup of warm milk in her hands, looking straight ahead as she said just four quiet, firm words.

He wouldn’t do it.

Galen kept stirring the pot from behind him. “You should’ve heard what she said to me. She swore if you went to prison for something you didn’t do, she’d wait for you outside, no matter how long it took.”

I know he can get through this. He’s capable. The way she said it still lingered in his ears.

Suddenly, Franco gripped the sides of the sink and looked up, catching Galen’s eyes in the mirror.

“You told Laura?”

Meeting Franco’s deep, cutting stare, Galen knew this wasn’t the right time to be snarky.

His attitude shifted as he answered, calm and serious, “No, I didn’t.”

He actually loved pushing Franco’s buttons, loved trying to crack that icy expression, hoping to catch a real reaction. The only time he ever managed was back on the island, when he teased Franco about being jealous of Hans. That was the one memorable moment he saw Franco genuinely lose it.

But there’s a time to joke and a time to be straight.
