The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 329

Her cooking was never exactly great, anyway.

“Petty, are you sure you’re alright?” Aaron noticed right away that something was off.

Petty shook her head, about to say something, when a sudden, sharp pain stabbed through her chest. She doubled over and coughed up blood.

“Petty!”

Aaron’s voice sounded so far away. The world spun wildly around her, her body went limp, and everything faded out as if her mind was slipping away.

Right before she blacked out, Petty could’ve sworn she heard a baby crying, right next to her ear.

In the endless darkness, she felt herself keep falling, like she was dropping into a bottomless pit.

When she finally opened her eyes again, all she saw was Hans’s worried face.

A single tear slipped from her eye as she looked at him, dazed.

The second Hans realized she was awake, his eyes brightened with hope. He spun around and shouted, “Doctor, come here and check on her!”

Doctors and nurses crowded around her bed at once. One of them gently opened Petty’s eyelids to examine her.

“Petty, can you hear me?” the doctor asked, lowering a small flashlight and peering into her eyes.

But Petty didn’t move. She just lay there, motionless.

Hans’s expression darkened. Something was wrong. “What’s going on?” he demanded.

The doctor shook his head. “Her test results come back normal. Honestly, this seems like it could be psychological. Did anything upset her or shock her before she collapsed?”

Hans turned to Aaron. “Well?”

Aaron’s head shook almost automatically. “No. We spent the whole afternoon playing games on our phones. That’s it.”

He paused, thinking. “I did see her hit her chest with her fist a few times. I just figured she was annoyed at my terrible gameplay, but she’s always so chill. She wouldn’t get angry over something like that. Besides, she ended up carrying our team to victory anyway. Nothing else happened, I swear.
