The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 355

"Yeah, if I was out with Hans, he’d never make me do something I didn’t want to. He definitely wouldn’t put me in danger."

Franco’s voice was low as a rumble. "What danger could you possibly be in with me?"

Petty had no interest in arguing. She yanked and twisted, using the awkward way she was sitting to her advantage, legs braced and ready.

She swung her foot at Franco, but he seemed to see it coming. In a split second, his hand clamped down on her knee and he snapped his legs together, trapping her completely.

She raised her hand to slap him, but before she could, he caught her wrist. Then he leaned in so close that their foreheads touched, cutting off any hope she’d use her head as a weapon.

"I won’t let anything happen to you," he said quietly, his voice rich and deep. The way he said it might have sounded reassuring, but Petty heard nothing but empty promises. All she felt was bitter sarcasm rising up inside her.

She was stuck. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t break free. With Franco so close she could see every line and shadow on his face, she just closed her eyes and stopped talking altogether.

She started to notice the yacht slowing down. Then, with a gentle jerk, it stopped completely, rocking gently in the waves.

The sudden stillness made her snap her eyes open.

All she could see was open water. No buildings, no hint of the little island—just the boat and endless sea, like the only two people left in the world.

The first thing she saw was Franco, his dark eyes just staring right back at her.

"It’s just us out here," he said, voice rough.

That second, a huge wave smashed against the boat. It rocked hard, nearly throwing her off balance. The movement tipped her sideways, forcing her straight onto Franco’s lap. When she tumbled against his chest, Franco’s hold loosened just enough for her to fall into him.

Her hands were pinned and her legs were stuck. She felt completely tied up, helpless as the yacht swayed and she pitched forward again.
