The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 403

She was being set up, and she knew it. Franco had planned every step of this, trapping her and leaving her no way out.

When the bodyguard brought her food, Laura pushed the tray aside and insisted on calling Jay. The guard hesitated, but she didn’t back down. Eventually, he handed over the phone. As soon as the line connected, Laura’s voice trembled with anger. “Where’s the antidote?”

Jay didn’t miss a beat. His answer was cold and emotionless. “Franco will give it to you when he decides it’s time.”

Laura’s voice cracked with desperation. “You’re lying to me, aren’t you? That statement you showed me, was it fake? He never admitted there was nothing going on with Petty, did he?”

Her words came out in ragged bursts, but Jay just sounded bored. “Think whatever you want.”

“Jay!” Laura’s voice shot up, but all she got in return was the cold beep of a disconnected call.

The bodyguard took the phone back without a word. Laura let herself sink to the floor. Her mind raced. Franco wanted to know if she actually had the antidote—now that he was sure, why wasn’t he handing it over? Was he waiting for something, or someone else to need it?

But Adelaide was already gone. Petty had lost her child, and with it, the danger seemed to have passed. So why was Franco stalling?

She closed her eyes. It had been a while since her dinner arrived, and night had settled in.

Instinctively, she reached for the old scar on her wrist. Years ago, she’d tried to end it all, but now a tiny chip was hidden under her skin—a tracker that could reveal her location. If he couldn’t reach her, he’d know something had happened. They were in this together, tied by secrets and a fortune only she could unlock. He wouldn’t leave her behind.

Suddenly, a sharp sting blossomed beneath her scar. Her eyes flashed cold.

Petty was driving to Malcom’s place when her phone started buzzing from inside her purse. The red light ahead gave her just enough time to check. Nash’s name lit up the screen.
