The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 456

When the time came and she found out that Abacus was only suffering because he had absorbed the poison meant for her, her hatred for Laura would consume her. Who knew what kind of drastic, ruthless things she might do to herself in her grief? No one could guarantee her safety.

Franco was absolutely unwilling to take that risk again.

Since he had already chosen to hide the truth for this long, a few more days wouldn't make a difference.

"But before any of that happens, can you at least eat something? She isn't eating..." Galen suddenly froze, realizing what he had just let slip.

He couldn't let Franco know that Petty had refused breakfast entirely. Amy had carried the food in, and she had carried it right back out untouched. Even Hans couldn't get her to eat a single bite.

If Franco found out, it would only drive him out of his mind with worry.

Galen quickly pivoted. "She isn't going to buy this act of yours!"

Franco's thumb paused over the wound on his hand. He leaned back against the headboard, his expression perfectly composed. "I'm not playing the victim, and I don't expect her to care."

"Are you going to eat or not? If you don't eat, I'm going to spoon-feed you myself." Galen grabbed a bowl of porridge from the bedside table, plopped down heavily on the edge of the bed, and scooped up a spoonful, shoving it toward Franco.

Franco simply raised his eyes, a slow, chilling motion that made Galen's outstretched hand freeze mid-air.

"Don't you dare."

Franco's voice was cold and edged with a lethal warning.

Galen had zero doubts that if he actually tried to force-feed him, Franco—even with his severe injuries—would ruthlessly kick him across the room.

This man's stubborn pride was terrifying!

It was one thing to put up a strong front for Petty, but did he really have to act so tough in front of the guy he wore matching diapers with as a toddler?

"You both need to head back and rest," Franco said, suppressing a series of harsh coughs.

Galen's chest tightened at the sound. "Are you going to eat or what?"

"I'll eat if you leave."

Galen sighed. "...Fine. You better keep your word."

Shortly after, Galen and Harris left the hospital room. Before stepping out, Galen made sure to instruct Jay to keep a close eye on Franco and stop him from doing anything reckless. Galen promised to return after a quick shower and a change of clothes.

Franco picked up the bowl of porridge and began to eat. The movements pulled at his wounds, forcing him to eat at a painstakingly slow pace.
