The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 82

“That’s right.” Franco’s eyes followed the movement of the knife. He shifted just enough for Petty to spot Aaron, hidden at the back of the group.

For a heartbeat, it was like Franco was trying to soothe her. She remembered what Hans had said about Aaron—his aim was deadly accurate.

Suddenly, everything clicked for Petty. Franco was trying to distract the man, to give Aaron a clear shot. Maybe even a shot to kill. But their captor was sharp. Even if he wavered, he wasn’t letting his guard down at all. There were no openings.

Petty was being used as a shield. Even with Aaron’s skill, a shot from this distance, with no proper vantage point, was almost impossible. One tiny mistake, and she’d be the one hit.

Franco wanted to switch places with her, to offer himself up instead.

Petty clenched her jaw.

“So you really killed Hassan… You finally admit it, Franco!” she shouted, her voice trembling with fury. “I knew it was your stupid ego. You didn’t kill him to avenge me. You don’t love me, so why do you even care what happens to me?”

“Why don’t you run back to Laura!”

Franco looked at her, his eyes stormy. “Petty, stop it.”

“Stop what? You strut around town with Laura, acting like I don’t even exist. I’m supposed to be your wife, but you turned me into a joke! Just because you killed Hassan, you think I’m supposed to fall at your feet? Keep dreaming, Franco.”

She started to cry, shouting and lashing out like she was losing her mind. The man holding her lost his patience and snapped, “Shut up!”

“What’s it to you?” Petty screamed right back, like she was ready to lose it all.

Franco’s face was as dark as a thundercloud. “Petty!”

But she ignored him, pushing the captor’s buttons, trying anything to make him slip up.

“Come on, just kill me already! I don’t even want to live! My husband cheats on me in broad daylight. I’m the idiot here. I’d rather die!”
