Chapter 69 – No Stone Left Standing
Thoren
Two weeks.
Fourteen days since Nevara vanished into the forest and didn’t come back.
I stood in the war room with my hands braced against the table, eyes fixed on the map beneath the
pins marked every town and city within a three–hour radius of Silvercrest. Gold pins marked the san radius around my own kingdom.
Every single one had been searched.
Inns. Private residences. Warehouses. Rentals. Safehouses. Borders. Markets. Checkpoints.
Nothing.
Which told me exactly what I needed to know.
Tobias wasn’t hiding in plain sight.
“He hasn’t returned to Silvercrest,” I said flatly.
Kael stood at attention across the table. “No, Your Majesty. Our scout confirmed it again this morning
absence hasn’t gone unnoticed, but the pack is keeping quiet.”
“Of course they are,” I said. “Because they know he took her.”
Michelle stood to my right, arms crossed, gaze moving over the map with the same intensity as mine.
“He didn’t take her far,” I continued. “Not yet. He wouldn’t risk moving her long distances while she’s

Compromised.

Wolfsbane. Enough to suppress her wolf. Enough to slow healing. Enough to keep her weak.
Enough to keep her trapped.
“He planned this,” I said. “He had time. He had access. And he disappeared the moment he took her.”
Kael nodded. “Which means he’s somewhere he believes is secure.”
“I want to expand the radius,” I said, already reaching for another marker “Five hours out. Maybe more.”
Michelle’s voice cut in–not sharp, not soft. Controlled.
“Not yet.”
I turned to her slowly.
