G1 had a granddaughter?
That meant she survived all those years ago. She got married, had a child… She’d really thought G1 was long gone.
Dr. Five stared at the photo on her phone, her hand tightening around it. Was G1 still alive somewhere?
“Dr. Five, are you okay?” A nurse noticed her face had gone pale and stepped over to steady her. “Was the surgery too much? You look exhausted.”
Dr. Five was the most respected doctor for miles around. Her skill was legendary, but what people loved most was her warmth and kindness. For decades, she’d saved patients no one else could help. People traveled from all over, hoping she could work a miracle for them. Even the biggest hospitals tried to hire her, but she always said no.
“I’m fine,” she said quietly. She pulled herself together, gently moved the nurse’s hand away, and hurried back to her office. Her fingers shook as she opened her laptop.
She was almost certain. From the photo, she could tell—the girl named Charlotte had to be G1’s granddaughter. They didn’t look exactly alike, but their vibe, the way they carried themselves… it was uncanny. Especially their eyes, full of fire and confidence.
Just one look and she was back forty years, remembering that dazzling girl who’d changed everything.
No wonder Charlotte seemed special. She was G1’s granddaughter.
But Dr. Five’s smile faded before it really started. When she scrolled down and read what was written below the photo, her whole body tensed.
Charlotte had a genetic mutation.
