There was no way Kenneth just saw Emily as a sister. Anyone could tell that.
When Anthony heard that, he frowned, his face turning serious. So Emily really was falling for him, all by herself.
“Really?” Charlotte narrowed her eyes, the hint of a smile playing at her lips, but her tone stayed calm and a little cold.
Kenneth rubbed his forehead, looking a little helpless but still gentle. “Come on. I’m not a monster. I’d never do anything to Emily.”
He and Emily had known each other forever. They were more like brothers than anything else, and romance had never crossed his mind. Even if it had, what difference would it make? Her heart was already set on someone else. The way she cried over that guy… she was definitely in deep.
Charlotte fell silent, caught off guard. She just couldn’t think of a comeback right then.
After a few seconds, she finally shot back without mercy, her words icy and sharp. “You should really find time to see a doctor.”
Your vision seems off, and your logic could use some help too.
“What?” Kenneth was completely confused.
He wasn’t sick. Why would he need a doctor?
Before he could say more, Charlotte just hung up.
Charlotte tossed her phone aside, the candy in her mouth crunching loudly between her teeth.
“What a waste,” she muttered.
Anthony messaged her hair lightly and handed her a glass of milk. His gaze was dark and serious as he said quietly, “If it were anyone else Emily liked, I’d just play a little dirty and drag him to her.”
But this time, it was his best friend—and Charlotte’s brother, of all people.
“Kidnapping isn’t impossible,” Charlotte answered, lifting her chin to meet Anthony’s eyes. She looked like she meant every word.
Anthony froze with a knife in his hand, staring at her in surprise. “You’re actually serious?”
“Why not? We should try to grant Emily her wish.”
“No.” Her agent shook his head, looking baffled. “He hasn’t replaced Emily, but he hasn’t added you to the cast either. Even more…”
“Even more what?” Adela pressed.
“J pulled the screening application entirely,” the agent said, frowning deeper. “I’m not sure what he’s thinking.”
Without approval, there could be no filming permit.
That meant J was actually willing to kill the whole Storm project before allowing Adela to join.
Adela let out a cold little laugh. “Tell my dad. He’ll know what to do.”
The agent nodded.
With Kemp behind the scenes, nothing else they tried would matter. Unless they could find someone even more powerful than Kemp. But someone like that? There was no way they could get close.
