The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1415

Emily woke up with her head pounding, blinking up at the ceiling she knew so well. For a second, everything felt fuzzy and unreal.

She tried to piece together last night. She remembered going back to the studio for something... arguing with Adela... and maybe bumping into Kenneth? After that, her memory just fizzled out.

“You’re finally awake?”

Pam stood in the doorway, apron on, a breakfast tray in her hands.

“Pam?” Emily sat up, still trying to clear the fog in her brain. “Did you bring me home?”

“Nope.” Pam walked over, set down a steaming mug and crossed her arms, a teasing smile playing on her lips. “That was all Kenneth.”

Emily almost spat out her water. Her posture shot up straight, lashes fluttering, voice squeaking, “Wait, Kenneth brought me home?”

Pam settled into a chair and stretched her legs out. “Not just that,” she sighed, a little too amused. “You pretty much wrapped yourself around him and made him carry you. Think of how a sloth hugs a tree. That was you last night.”

Emily just stared, her face turning pale as a sheet. She gave a tiny nod, speechless.

“You held on so tight... seriously, we could barely peel you off him,” Pam went on, shaking her head. “I tried, but you wouldn’t budge.”

“No way...” Emily covered her forehead with a hand, eyes going wide. “I’m not like that when I’m drunk.” All the other times she’d had too much to drink, she just went straight to bed. She’d never caused a scene.

“Oh, please.” Pam examined her nails, shooting Emily a sly look. “Maybe you just got bold because it was Kenneth. Someone saw an opportunity, huh?”

“There’s something at the end you probably won’t want to see,” Pam warned softly. “Just... prepare yourself.”

Emily’s chest tightened. She thought she knew where this was going. She forced a little laugh, even though her stomach was twisted with nerves. “It’s fine. I’m ready.”

Pam nodded and sat back while Emily pressed play again. The video jumped to the part where Pam saw Kenneth out.

Emily’s mind went blank except for the sound of Kenneth’s voice.

He really did just see her as a sister.

She’d thought she was ready to hear it, but actually listening to those words—out loud, from his own mouth—felt like something inside her had split wide open.
