“That’s right,” Charlotte replied, looking him straight in the eye. Her lips moved slowly. “Other than her memory loss, Emily is absolutely healthy. The two of you will grow old together.”

Kenneth’s brain was spinning. Just a moment ago, he had been falling apart, convinced his world was ending. Now, in a heartbeat, everything had flipped. It felt like he’d been dragged straight out of hell and dropped into pure bliss. The shock of it all nearly knocked him off balance.
