“What?”
Hearing the commotion, Glenn hurried out from the pharmacy, not even bothering to take off his gloves. “Charlotte, you’re back?”
“Good morning, Glenn.”
Charlotte gave him a soft smile, unzipped her backpack, and pulled out a sheet of paper. “Could you sign this for me?”
Another signature?
Again?
“Hold on. I suddenly have a headache.”
Glenn, who’d been all bright and alert a second ago, shifted his head to the side and pretended to look confused. “My hand’s too weak to sign anything.”
Charlotte couldn’t help but smile, totally unbothered. “It’s not a leave slip.”
“Not a leave slip?”
Glenn turned back and shot a cautious look at the paper.
Charlotte unfolded it, showing him a list of donated medical equipment.
His name was already filled in as the guarantor, so they needed his blessing.
“What’s this?”
“It’s a donation from someone generous.”
Charlotte set the paper on the table, grabbed a pen, and handed it to the still-dazed Glenn. “Go on. Sign it.”
Someone generous?
When Glenn and the other students peeked at the paper, their eyes landed on the stamp in the bottom corner.
It was The Blair Group.
For a moment, everyone just stared.
The Blair Group? Seriously?
Their business was worldwide. Their medical tech was top tier, both in tech and quality. Usually, only major hospitals or big companies could afford their stuff, and even then there was a waitlist.
A donation like this? It just never happened.
“Charlotte, are you sure this is real?”
Glenn combed through the details, seeing that it really was a no-strings-attached gift. More than a dozen machines. With this, every student in the medical school would get real, hands-on practice.
“Relax, I’m kidding. I told you, if I said I’d come back, I’d come back on time.”
Charlotte grinned, laughing a little under her breath. Her voice was light and teasing. “If anything goes wrong, just let me know.”
Once Glenn finished signing, he tossed the pen aside and trailed after Charlotte.
A whole group of students tagged along after Glenn. The hallway looked like a parade.
...
Charlotte spent longer in the lab than she’d planned—there were just too many tasks piling up.
Anthony was waiting outside the gates of Kingswood University, holding a cup of hot milk tea with less sugar.
Suddenly, noise carried over from the plaza.
Anthony looked up. In the middle of the square, candles arranged into the word “love” glowed softly, rose petals scattered everywhere. The big LED screen overhead was showing bold letters—
It was obviously a proposal.
A proposal?
Anthony watched as a smiling girl melted into the arms of a boy. His dark eyes narrowed, thoughtful and unreadable.
