The lecture lasted a grueling four hours.
Surprisingly.
Every single student was utterly captivated. Not a single person got up to leave early.
The brutality of crime scenes, the vital role of forensics, the critical nature of psychology...
Everyone walked away from the seminar having learned a great deal.
"That wraps up today's material." Roger closed the slideshow and stepped out from behind the podium, taking center stage. His dark eyes swept across the audience as he spoke with an unhurried cadence. "We have ten minutes for a Q&A."
Instantly, the hall buzzed with energy.
The students, who had already been looking at him with starry eyes, were now practically brimming with adoration.
The first hand to shoot up belonged to a forensic science major.
The question was highly technical, and Roger answered it with meticulous detail.
With the ice broken, more and more students eagerly raised their hands.
Stella gripped her pen, quietly jotting down notes.
Everything he covered today was incredibly useful, and she had managed to write down most of it.
Except...
"Hey, he closed the slides too fast. Did you manage to snap pictures of the last few?" Stella leaned over and whispered to her classmate.
"No." The girl shook her head with a look of regret. "I was too engrossed at the end and totally forgot."
"Me too."
Stella furrowed her brows and let out a soft sigh.
It was a shame.
Those last few slides contained some crucial points. She wondered if anyone else had gotten them, but the thought of having to strike up a conversation with strangers made her immediately back down.
While she was internally debating what to do, Roger's gaze swept over the crowd and casually landed on her.
"The students from the other departments don't seem very eager to participate."
He pushed up his glasses, the harsh fluorescent lights accentuating his icy demeanor. "I'll be picking someone to answer the final question."
A collective gasp rippled through the room.
The fear of being called on by a teacher was practically etched into every student's DNA.
