Wallace opened his mouth, but a heavy wave of guilt left him completely speechless.
Right now, Vinson was only bowing his head because he was terrified of her identity.
They had been enemies from the start. As for the future... their dynamic wasn't likely to change.
"I'm so sorry, Asclepius." Stripped of excuses, Wallace could only offer a string of desperate apologies.
He truly hadn't realized Vinson was such a scumbag.
"How about this." Charlotte glanced out the window, noting they were nearing the campus. She didn't want to waste any more breath. "I'll give you half a day to think it over, Wallace. If I don't have a satisfactory answer by noon, our partnership is officially over."
"Asclepius—"
"That's it."
With a ruthless click, Charlotte ended the call and tossed her phone into her bag.
"Don't be angry."
Anthony gently stroked her cheek, his voice a soothing murmur. "Wallace is a smart man. Once he calms down, he'll realize you're doing this for the greater good."
Vinson despised the Traditional Medicine program. Even if they had the best instructors in the world, he would never provide the necessary resources. With him in charge, the department at The Cabinda University would never thrive. Not to mention, the man's moral compass was fundamentally broken.
"Yeah."
Charlotte let out a heavy sigh and slowly closed her eyes. She took Anthony's hand and pressed it against her stomach, letting him feel the steady presence of their babies.
She was so easy to coax.
Anthony lowered his gaze, a tender smile touching his lips. In a few short months, the little ones would be born, and his Lottie wouldn't have to work so tirelessly anymore.
The luxurious car rolled to a smooth stop outside the gates of Kingswood University.
Grabbing her bag, Charlotte was just about to step out when Anthony suddenly caught her wrist.
"I put your prenatal vitamins in your bag. Remember to take them."
"Oh."
Charlotte blinked, caught off guard for a second before offering a faint nod of acknowledgment.
"Good girl."
Tipping her chin up, Anthony planted a soft, lingering kiss on her lips, his eyes dark with unmasked adoration. "I'll come pick you up at noon so we can head to The Cabinda University."
Charlotte slipped her hands into her pockets, arching a delicate brow as a teasing smile played on her lips. "How do you know I'm going to The Cabinda University at noon?"
