The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1950

"Next week?" Stella gripped her phone, a heavy wave of reluctance hitting her. "Is she really not coming back for two years?"

Having spent so much time with Shirley, she had genuinely grown to view the girl as one of her closest friends.

"Relax," Charlotte drawled lazily, a smirk playing on her pink lips. "She can jump on a jet and fly back whenever she feels like it."

"That's a relief." The anxiety washed out of Stella, replaced by a fond smile. "Where are we meeting, Charlotte?"

"The Gates estate."

Stella froze dead in her tracks. Roger's parents definitely knew about the two of them...

"Shirley is my aunt and uncle's goddaughter, so they're hosting the send-off." Sensing Stella's mounting panic, Charlotte quickly interjected. "Don't stress. It's just a dinner. If you get overwhelmed, I'll have a driver whisk you out of there the second dessert is over. Plus, my aunt and uncle are totally rational people. If they're pissed at anyone, they're pissed at Roger."

"Huh?" Stella blinked rapidly, completely thrown off guard. "At Roger?"

"Yep," Charlotte smirked, her tone dripping with wicked amusement. "They're furious that he's such a massive failure he can't even manage to woo the girl he likes."

Stella's face burst into flames. "Charlotte, please stop messing with me," she whined softly.

"Alright, alright," Charlotte chuckled. "Just ride over with Shirley and the others after class tomorrow."
