But what?!
The tension in everyone's heads was close to snapping.
"But—"
Charlotte picked up her boba, took another two small sips, and flashed a smile that was even brighter and sweeter than before. Her tone remained flawlessly gentle. "If you don't listen carefully when I speak, or if you make a mistake during the autopsy, I *will* yell at you."
"Your Dr. Gates has personal experience with this," Charlotte said, turning her head toward him with a raised brow and a wicked little smirk. "Isn't that right, Dr. Gates?"
Roger's lips pressed into a thin line. His typically cold expression was now clouded with absolute gloom.
Recalling Dr. Gates's 'past,' the rest of the room looked more than a little uncomfortable.
When Dr. Gates first returned to the country and acted as an assistant to the legendary Asclepius, rumor had it he'd been chewed out mercilessly.
If the great Asclepius was willing to scream at her own brother, what chance did they—a bunch of rookies—have?
"What does silence mean?" Charlotte asked, tapping her finger against the table as she noticed everyone staring at the floor, completely unresponsive. Her voice turned careless. "Did you not hear me? Or did you not understand?"
"We understand," the team chorused, snapping their heads up immediately.
They quickly dove right into the case discussion.
During the process.
Charlotte posed numerous questions, grilling the staff members one by one.
After circling the room, her gaze landed on Veronica, who still hadn't fully recovered from her shock. Charlotte eyed her and asked coldly, "Dr. Ham, regarding the protocol we just discussed, what's the next step?"
"Huh?"
Veronica was still drowning in the agonizing realization that she had managed to simultaneously insult the sister of the man she liked and the living legend of her entire profession. She hadn't heard a single word of the discussion and panicked. "The next step is..."
Charlotte rolled her eyes, holding back her temper. "Summarize the solution the previous colleague just presented."
Veronica's face turned deathly pale. She couldn't form a single word.
"Heh."
