The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 26

She still looked like the same naive, beautiful girl as always. He remembered when Yvonne fell and was in a coma after being resuscitated, Tamara had sent people to take care of her and sometimes even attended to Yvonne personally.

Milford fell silent for a moment, deciding not to tell Tamara what Leilani had just said. Tamara and Leilani had always had a bad relationship. Tamara had already put so much effort into caring for and accompanying Yvonne; he didn't want to make her overthink things. Besides, if Yvonne was truly cured, Tamara would probably be even happier.

Clearing his thoughts, Milford raised his hand to ruffle her hair, his tone gentle. "Nothing. I just warned her not to get near Yvonne again."

Tamara blinked. "Really? Leilani didn't... say anything about me?"

"What would she dare say?" Milford sneered, a trace of disgust flashing in his eyes. "What right does the culprit who hurt Yvonne have to accuse anyone else?"

However, recalling Leilani's resolve just now, a complex feeling inevitably rose in Milford's chest.

Hearing this, the tension in Tamara's shoulders relaxed slightly, and the corners of her lips hooked up in an imperceptible arc.

"Milford, don't be angry..." She leaned lightly on his arm, her voice sweet enough to drip honey. "Maybe Leilani was just confused at the time. Shall we forgive her?"

Milford worried that continuing this topic would reveal something, so he shifted the conversation. He smiled gently at Tamara and said, "Let's go. Didn't you say someone was looking for me?"

Tamara smiled sweetly. "Yeah!"

Seeing that Milford's attitude toward Leilani was as hateful as ever, Tamara instantly relaxed.

...

The banquet came to an end, and guests began to leave in pairs.
