The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 31

"Leilani?" Hackett slammed the newspaper down, his face darkening instantly. "What is she up to now?"

Clive let out a cold laugh. "Dad, your 'good daughter' is certainly capable. She just got out of prison and she's already found herself a sugar daddy. She bought a condo at Celestial Heights, paid in full! Tamara and I just went over to ask a few questions, and she drugged me. I had a severe allergic reaction!"

"What?" Zadie gasped, inhaling sharply. "Where did she get the money to buy a house?"

"Where else could it come from?" Clive sneered, the corner of his mouth twitching with disdain. "She obviously hooked up with some rich heir who paid for it. Even Callahan Langley showed up personally today to protect her. He actually had us thrown out!"

Clive had never suffered such humiliation in his life. He was so furious he wanted to drag Leilani out and beat her.

Hackett was clearly enraged as well. His face went absolute livid as he slapped the table and stood up. "That ungrateful wretch! She has completely disgraced the Sloan family!"

Tamara chose that moment to let out a soft sob, speaking timidly, "Dad, please don't be angry. Leilani might just be confused for a moment..."

"Confused?" Hackett laughed in extreme anger. "She's degrading herself!"

He grabbed his phone, gritting his teeth. "I'm going to ask her right now if she plans to be a shameful mistress for the rest of her life!"

Leilani had just finished showering. She walked out of the bathroom, drying her wet hair with a towel, when her phone started vibrating on the couch.

The name "Hackett" flashed on the screen. Her fingers paused, a cold glint flashing in her eyes, but she slid the icon to answer.

"So you still know how to answer the phone?" Hackett's voice was hard as iron, filled with condescending interrogation.

Leilani put the phone on speaker and tossed it back onto the sofa. She continued drying her hair, her tone calm. "What is it?"
