Milford let out a derisive scoff. "The Sloans?"
Did she not realize the situation? She was still counting on her family to save her?
Milford looked down at her, his eyes mocking as he delivered the final blow. "The Sloan family can barely save themselves right now, and you're counting on them? When the police find evidence that you hired a hitman, your family might even be indicted as accomplices for harboring a criminal. You think they're going to stick their necks out for you then?"
Tamara's pupils constricted, her face turning deathly pale. She couldn't believe Milford and the Sherwoods could be so heartless.
"Milford!" Tamara screamed, a broken, piercing sound, her voice trembling. Huge tears rolled down her face. "How can you do this to me? All these years, I gave you everything! I was willing to do anything for you! And now, you don't care about our relationship at all?"
Milford's eyes were cold, as if he had heard a joke. "Relationship? Tamara, your idea of a 'relationship' is lying to me over and over, framing Yvonne, and even hiring a hitman to kill her?"
His voice was low, suppressed anger vibrating within it. "I blame myself for being stupid enough not to see your true colors sooner. If I had known what you were really like, I never would have married you!"
Tamara shuddered, tears streaming down her face like a broken faucet. But a second later, her expression shifted. The tears were still on her face, but her eyes turned cold and manic. Milford's words had completely triggered her.
From the moment Milford mentioned divorce, Tamara dropped the gentle, kind act she had maintained for so long. She had initially wanted to struggle a bit more, to plead her case, but now it seemed unnecessary.
