The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 499

“Leilani, you just got back and haven’t even had a meal yet, and you’re already thinking about your next trip?” Callahan complained. “How are we supposed to have a proper relationship like this?”

Facing Callahan’s resentful gaze, Leilani remained perfectly calm. “I can’t help it. Work requires it.”

Callahan narrowed his eyes. “You don’t have someone waiting for you in Garrison City, do you?”

Leilani gave him a speechless look. “What is going on in that brain of yours all day?”

Callahan huffed. “How else do you explain looking like you’re in such a rush to run away?”

Leilani couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, so she simply closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

Callahan glanced at her, noting the slight flutter of her eyelashes—she was clearly faking it. He couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “Fine, I won’t tease you anymore.”

He reached out and turned up the car’s temperature, his voice softening. “Sleep. I’ll wake you when we’re home.”

Leilani didn’t make a sound, but her tense shoulders relaxed slightly.

The black Maybach drove smoothly through the night. The temperature inside was perfect, and the soft leather of the seat hugged her body. Leilani leaned back in the passenger seat. At first, she tried to force herself to stay awake, but Callahan’s driving was too steady. The neon lights outside the window blurred into streaks of color. Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier until finally, she couldn’t resist the drowsiness. Her head tilted gently to the side as she leaned against the window.
