The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 500

Leilani quickly averted her gaze and pressed the button for her floor. Callahan slid one hand into his pocket, while the other reached out to smooth a stray lock of hair that had curled up on her head, his tone casual yet intimate. "What do you want to eat tomorrow?"

Leilani paused. "What?"

Callahan looked at her with feigned helplessness. "We haven't seen each other in ages, and my girlfriend just got back from a business trip. As your boyfriend, shouldn't my first priority be taking you out for a proper date?"

He stared at her, his gaze deepening. "Besides, didn't a certain someone promise to make it up to me before she left? Who was it that fell asleep halfway through the movie on our last date? Surely that person hasn't completely forgotten about it?"

The "certain someone"—Leilani—fell silent. If Callahan hadn't brought it up, she truly would have forgotten. Keeping her expression flat, she replied, "Whatever you want. I'm fine with anything."

Callahan chuckled softly. "Alright, I'll figure it out."

The elevator arrived with a soft ding. Leilani walked out briskly, Callahan’s lazy drawl drifting after her. "Goodnight, Dr. Sloan." He had to head back to the office.

She waved a hand without looking back, but the moment the door clicked shut behind her, the corners of her lips curled up.

Leilani fished out her keys and unlocked her apartment door. As soon as the door swung open, she saw Yvonne running out of the kitchen, wearing an apron and excitedly holding a plate of glazed ribs. "Leilani! You're finally back!"
